3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 805.8C, subsection 12, Code 2024, is
2amended to read as follows:
312. Trespassing violations. For trespasses punishable under
4section 716.8, subsection 1 or 5, the scheduled fine is two
5hundred sixty five hundred dollars for a first violation, six
6hundred forty-five one thousand dollars for a second violation,
7and one thousand two hundred eighty-five five hundred dollars
8for a third or subsequent violation.
9EXPLANATION
10The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
11the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
12This bill relates to certain trespassing violations and
13associated scheduled fines.
14The bill increases fines for a person knowingly trespassing
15upon the property of another, or who commits a trespass while
16hunting deer. The bill provides that the scheduled fine is
17$500 for a first violation, $1,000 for a second violation, and
18$1,500 for a third or subsequent violation.
