4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANTS — HUMAN FERTILITY
2AND HUMAN ENDOCRINE SYSTEM — STUDY — REPORT.
  The department
3of health and human services shall compile and analyze
4information, data, scientific research, and other sources on
5the negative effects of environmental contaminants on human
6fertility and the human endocrine system, with an emphasis
7on intrauterine exposure, and shall submit a report to
8the governor and the general assembly by February 1, 2024,
9specifying the department’s findings and recommendations for
10broad-based policy strategies to prevent and reduce these
11negative effects through actions and interventions at the
12patient, health care provider, health care institution, and
13societal levels.
14EXPLANATION
15The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
16the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   17This bill requires the department of health and human
18services to compile and analyze studies, data, scientific
19research, and other sources on the negative effects of
20environmental contaminants on human fertility and the human
21endocrine system, with an emphasis on intrauterine exposure,
22and to submit a report to the governor and the general assembly
23specifying the department’s findings and recommendations for
24broad-based policy strategies to prevent and reduce these
25negative effects through actions and interventions at the
26patient, health care provider, health care institution, and
27societal levels.
