3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 483A.8, subsection 7, Code 2023, is
2amended to read as follows:
37. The department shall make youth deer hunting licenses
4available for purchase during the same time period that general
5deer hunting licenses are available for purchase, including
6through all established deer hunting seasons.A person who is
7issued a youth deer hunting license may use the deer hunting
8license and tag during any established deer hunting season
9using the method of take authorized by rule for each season
10being hunted. If the tag is filled during one of the seasons,
11the license will not be valid in subsequent seasons.
12EXPLANATION
13The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
14the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
15This bill relates to youth deer hunting licenses and tags.
16The bill requires the department of natural resources to make
17youth deer hunting licenses available for purchase during the
18same period of time that general deer hunting licenses are
19available for purchase, including through all established deer
20hunting seasons.
