Senate Study Bill 1042 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1relating to bank utilization of filing services offered

3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 9.11, subsection 1, Code 2023, is amended
2by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. j. Chapter 524, including as provided in
4section 524.303.
5 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 524.1423 Secretary of state — extra
6services — surcharge.
7Upon the request of a filer of a document under this chapter,
8the secretary of state shall provide an extra filing service
9and assess a surcharge as provided in sections 9.14 and 9.15.
10EXPLANATION
11The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
12the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
13This bill relates to services provided by the secretary of
14state to filers of documents pursuant to Code chapter 524. The
15bill permits banks to use preclearance and expedited filing
16services offered by the secretary of state’s office.
