3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 679A.20 Limitations of arbitration
2proceedings.
3If, at the time a demand for arbitration was made or notice
4of intention to arbitrate was served, the claim sought to
5be arbitrated would have been barred by limitation of time
6pursuant to chapter 614 had it been asserted in a court of
7this state, a party may assert the limitation as a bar to the
8arbitration on an application to the court.
9 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to all arbitration
10proceedings commenced on or after the effective date of
11this Act and any arbitration proceeding that is pending on
12the effective date of this Act where asserting a statute of
13limitation is not expressly prohibited by the rules governing
14the arbitration proceeding.
