2BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 481A.120, Code 2022, is amended to read
2as follows:
   3481A.120  Hunting from aircraft or snowmobiles prohibited 
4 exception
.
   51.  A Except as provided in subsection 2, a person, either
6singly or as one of a group of persons, shall not intentionally
7kill or wound, attempt to kill or wound, or pursue any animal,
8fowl, or fish from or with an aircraft in flight or from or with
9any self-propelled vehicles designed for travel on snow or ice
10which that utilize sled type runners, or skis, or an endless
11belt tread, or wheel, or any combination thereof, and which
12
 that are commonly known as snowmobiles.
   132.  For purposes of controlling the feral hog population,
14a person may take feral hogs on the person’s property, or the
15property of another with permission from the owner of the other
16property, from an aircraft in flight over the property.
17EXPLANATION
18The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
19the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   20This bill relates to hunting feral hogs from an aircraft.
21Current law prohibits a person from intentionally killing or
22wounding, or attempting to kill or wound, or pursuing any
23animal, fowl, or fish from or with an aircraft in flight or
24from a snowmobile. The bill authorizes a person to take feral
25hogs on the person’s property, or the property of another
26with permission from the owner of the other property, from an
27aircraft in flight over the property.
