House Resolution 12 - Introduced
An Act 1recognizing the national significance
2of therapy animals and their human handlers and
3designating April 30, 2021, as National Therapy
4Animal Day in Iowa.
5WHEREAS, April 30 has been annually designated
6as National Therapy Animal Day by Pet Partners, a
7national organization registering therapy animals for
8animal-assisted interventions;and
9WHEREAS, National Therapy Animal Day was created to
10recognize the exceptional therapy animals who partner
11with their human handlers to bring comfort and healing
12to those in need;and
13WHEREAS, therapy animals and their handlers can
14be found helping Iowans of all ages in a variety of
15settings including hospitals, pediatric care units,
16schools, and assisted living facilities;and
17WHEREAS, therapy animal teams in Iowa play an
18essential role in improving human health and well-being
19through human-animal interaction;NOW THEREFORE,
20BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
21the House of Representatives encourages all Iowans to
22celebrate therapy animals and their human handlers and
23designates April 30, 2021, as National Therapy Animal
24Day in Iowa.
