3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 627.6, subsection 2, Code 2021, is
2amended to read as follows:
32. One shotgun, and either one rifle or one musket long gun
4and one handgun.
5EXPLANATION
6The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
7the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
8This bill amends Code section 627.6 (general exemptions),
9which lists property that a debtor who is an Iowa resident may
10hold exempt from execution.
11The bill changes the exemption regarding firearms from “one
12shotgun, and either one rifle or one musket” to “one long gun
13and one handgun”.
