4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 68A.406, Code 2021, is amended by adding
2the following new subsection:
3   NEW SUBSECTION.  4.  Notwithstanding section 68A.103 or any
4other provision of law to the contrary, this section shall
5apply to candidates and political committees for federal
6office.
7EXPLANATION
8The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
9the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   10This bill relates to the placement of campaign signs by
11candidates for federal office. The bill specifies that
12campaign signs placed by candidates and political committees
13for federal office are subject to the provisions of the Code
14section controlling the placement of such signs.
   15By operation of law, a person who willfully violates a
16provision of the bill is guilty of a serious misdemeanor. A
17serious misdemeanor is punishable by confinement for no more
18than one year and a fine of at least $430 but not more than
19$2,560.
