Senate Study Bill 1084 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1relating to certain fees of the secretary of state.
2BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 9.4, Code 2021, is amended to read as
2follows:
   39.4  Fees.
   4The secretary of state shall collect all fees directed by
5law to be collected by the secretary of state, including the
6following:

   71.  For certificate, with seal attached, three dollars.
   82.  For a fee to be determined by the secretary of state by
9rule adopted pursuant to chapter 17A for
a copy of any law or
10record, upon the request of any person, a fee to be determined
11by the secretary of state by rule adopted pursuant to chapter
1217A
.
13   Sec. 2.  Section 9F.3, Code 2021, is amended to read as
14follows:
   159F.3  Certification — copies.
   16When certified by the secretary of state the census shall be
17in full force and effect throughout the state. On payment of
18a fee of two dollars by a requesting party, the secretary of
19state shall furnish a certified copy of the whole or any part
20of such census report.

21   Sec. 3.  REPEAL.  Section 9C.6, Code 2021, is repealed.

23The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
24the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   25This bill relates to certain fees charged by the secretary
26of state. The bill removes a requirement that the secretary
27of state charge $3 for a copy of a certificate with a seal
28attached. The bill also repeals a provision requiring the
29secretary of state to collect a fee of $25 per day prior to
30issuing a transient merchant’s license. The bill additionally
31strikes a provision requiring the secretary of state to collect
32a fee of $2 prior to furnishing a certified copy of the federal
33census to a requester.
