Senate Study Bill 1023 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1relating to the prosecuting attorneys training

3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 13A.3, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code
22021, is amended to read as follows:
   3c.  Three Two members elected by the Iowa county attorneys
4association or its successor.
5   Sec. 2.  Section 13A.3, subsection 1, Code 2021, is amended
6by adding the following new paragraph:
7   NEW PARAGRAPH.  d.  A member of the general public appointed
8by the governor.
9   Sec. 3.  Section 13A.6, Code 2021, is amended to read as
10follows:
   1113A.6  Report required.
   12The prosecuting attorneys training coordinator shall make
13an annual report to the attorney general, the governor, and to
14 the Iowa county attorneys association or its successor, and
15the general assembly
regarding the efforts of the office to
16implement the purposes of this chapter.
17EXPLANATION
18The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
19the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   20This bill relates to the prosecuting attorneys training
21coordinator and council.
   22The bill reduces the number of members of the prosecuting
23attorneys training coordination council elected by the Iowa
24county attorneys association from three members to two members.
   25The bill provides that one member of the council shall be a
26member of the general public appointed by the governor.
   27The bill provides that the prosecuting attorneys training
28coordinator shall make an annual report to the general assembly
29as well as to the attorney general, the governor, and the Iowa
30county attorneys association or its successor.
