3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 103A.8D Radon abatement.
2Any new residential construction for which an initial
3building permit is issued on or after July 1, 2020, shall
4include the installation of a radon abatement system consistent
5with the provisions of section 136B.1.
6EXPLANATION
7The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
9This bill relates to the installation of radon abatement
10systems in new residential buildings. The bill requires all
11new residential construction for which an initial building
12permit is issued on or after July 1, 2020, to include the
13installation of a radon abatement system.
