4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 298.3, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code
22019, is amended to read as follows:
3c. The purchase, lease, or lease-purchase of equipment or
4technology, including noninstructional software, equipment,
5and technology services, exceeding five hundred dollars in
6value per purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction.
7 Each transaction may include multiple equipment, software, or
8technology units.
9 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to school budget
10years beginning on or after July 1, 2019.
11EXPLANATION
12The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
13the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
14Current Code section 298.3 authorizes revenues from the
15regular and voter-approved physical plant and equipment levies
16to be used, in part, for the purchase, lease, or lease-purchase
17of equipment or technology exceeding $500 in value per
18purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction. This bill
19specifies that such authorization includes noninstructional
20software, equipment, and technology services, subject to the
21value per transaction requirement.
22The bill applies to school budget years beginning on or after
23July 1, 2019.
