3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 481A.48, Code 2019, is amended by adding
2the following new subsection:
3 NEW SUBSECTION. 7. The commission shall adopt rules to
4prohibit the use of any shot other than nontoxic shot approved
5by the United States fish and wildlife service for hunting
6mourning doves or Eurasian collared doves.
7 Sec. 2. Section 805.8B, subsection 3, paragraph h, Code
82019, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph:
9 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (7) Use of other than nontoxic shot for
10hunting doves, the scheduled fine is twenty-five dollars.
11EXPLANATION
12The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
13the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
14This bill requires the natural resource commission to adopt
15rules to prohibit the use of any shot other than nontoxic shot
16approved by the United States fish and wildlife service for
17hunting mourning doves or Eurasian collared doves. A violation
18of the bill’s provisions is punishable as a scheduled offense
19with a fine of $25.
