2BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 483A.8, subsection 7, Code 2019, is
2amended to read as follows:
37. A person who is issued a youth deer hunting license may
4use the deer hunting license and tag during any established
5deer hunting season using the method of take authorized by rule
6for each season being hunted. A person hunting with a youth
7deer hunting license during the youth deer hunting season is
8authorized to use a crossbow as a method of take in addition to
9any other method of take authorized by the department by rule.
10 If the tag is filled during one of the seasons, the license
11will not be valid in subsequent seasons.
12EXPLANATION
13The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
14the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
15Current law allows a person hunting with a youth deer hunting
16license during the youth deer hunting season to use a method
17of take authorized by the department of natural resources by
18rule for that season. This bill allows a person hunting with a
19youth deer hunting license during the youth deer hunting season
20to use a crossbow in addition to any other method of take
21authorized by the department for the youth deer hunting season.
