3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. MEDICAID COVERAGE — PREGNANT WOMEN LAWFULLY
2RESIDING IN THE UNITED STATES. Beginning July 1, 2019,
3coverage shall be provided under the Medicaid program to
4pregnant women lawfully residing in the United States in
5accordance with 42 U.S.C.§1396b(v)(4). The department of
6human services shall submit a Medicaid state plan amendment to
7the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services of the United
8States department of health and human services for approval to
9elect the option to provide such Medicaid coverage.
10EXPLANATION
11The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
12the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
13This bill requires that coverage under the Medicaid program
14be provided beginning July 1, 2019, to pregnant women lawfully
15residing in the United States in accordance with federal law.
16The bill requires the department of human services to submit a
17Medicaid state plan amendment to the centers for Medicare and
18Medicaid services of the United States department of health and
19human services for approval to elect the option to provide such
20Medicaid coverage.
