Born about 1824 in Marion County, Indiana. He came to Lee County, Iowa in 1837. He was a member of the Hiram Lodge No. 7, A. F. & A. M. at Augusta, Iowa. He was a resident of Lee County, Iowa for 37 years and a resident of Harvey County, Kansas since 1879. Mr. Thompson was a legislator from Lee County elected as a representative to the 9th Iowa General Assembly. He was a farmer and a miller.
