Born in Starksboro, Addison County, Vermont on May 17, 1805 to Elihu Hoag and Dorcas Powell. He passed away on June 5, 1895. Amos married Persis Hallock on June 5, 1830. She died on September 8, 1830. Amos married Emeline Wild Power on October 21, 1831 and had 9 children. He was a resident of Ward Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. In 1857 Amos Hoag was elected Coroner of Winneshiek County. Amos Hoag served in the 8th General Assembly and was a farmer.
