A prominent and influential citizen. He was a lawyer, but he also devoted considerable time and attention to farming, and although not an office-seeker he was nevertheless called by the citizens of Davis County to various positions of trust and honor. He was twice elected to the lower house of the State legislature, and served during the regular and extra sessions of the Eighth and Ninth General Assemblies.
