Member of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Com Growers Association, American Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Society, Davenport One, Leadership Iowa Alumni Association, Iowa State University Alumni Association, Iowa State University Letterwinners Club, Durant Athletic Boosters, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant, Walcott Community Club, and Farm Bureau. Participated in the 2001 Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) program. Wife Lisa; one son and one daughter. Served one term in House. Serving first term in Senate.
