Member of National Conference of State Legislatures Executive Committee, Council of State Governments, former member of Midwest Legislators, Executive Committee, board of directors Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, and Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce. Served in US. Army. Wife Phyllis Peterson; one son, one daughter, six grandchildren Served five terms in House. Serving fifth term in Senate.
