Served in U.S. Navy, 1966-68. Vietnam veteran. Married Joan A. Running of Cedar Rapids in 1968. Children: Elizabeth, Stefanie, Kirsten and Chad. Former executive board member and organizational representative for United Food and Commercial Workers Local 3-P. Past chairman of Iowa Second District Committee on Political Education. Employed as a quality assurance technologist for Wilson Foods Corp. Member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Iowa Farm-Labor Coalition, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Second term.
