Charles Ellsworth Millard
Warren County
Born in Ohio in 1822 to John Andrew and Sarah “Sally” Millard. He was raised as a farmer, like his father. Charles married Julia Fox in Washington County, Ohio on July 4, 1848. Between 1851 and 1856 Charles’ family and his parents moved to Clarke County, Iowa. Both parents died in Clarke County and are buried in Liberty Cemetery, Liberty Township. Charles lived in Osceola, studied law, and became an attorney. He served as a Representative for Warren County District 40 for the 7th Iowa General Assembly 1858-1859. Charles and Julia had four children: three sons, Kenyon V. Millard, Charles E. Millard II, and John Millard and one daughter, J. Elizabeth Millard. Mr. Millard died in Clarke County, Iowa in 1878.
