Born in Ohio on 1818. He moved to Jackson township, Van Buren County, Iowa, in October 1837. He married Rachel C. Smith in Van Buren County on May 21, 1840. They had six children. He was elected to the House of Representatives for the 7th General Assembly (1858). He died February 20, 1873.
