Born Jan. 19, 1931, in Oskaloosa, son of Garret J. and Jozena Dieleman. Graduated from Pella Christian High School, 1949. B.A., Calvin College, 1959. M.A., University of Iowa, 1966. American government and history teacher, 1959-74. Married Emily J. Langstraat, 1951. Children: Wendell, Cyndi and Kris. Member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. Veteran: Iowa National Guard, 1951-53; Korean Conflict, 1953-55; Reserves, six years. Member of American Legion. Owner of Diamond Trail News, Sully. Member, Iowa Press Association and National Newspaper Association. Past member and vice chairman of the Central Iowa Regional Association of Local Governments, 1972-75. Life insurance underwriter for Bankers Life, Nebraska. Member of Iowa and National Association of Life Insurance Underwriters. Fourth term.
