Served two years in the Army during World War II. Farmer, president of Brand H.R.'s Farms Ltd., and 1979 recipient of the Osceola County Farm Bureau Service to Agriculture Award. Member and elder of Ocheyedan Christian Reformed Church. Member: American Legion, Osceola County Farm Bureau, Osceola County Cattleman's Association, and Osceola County Pork Producers. First term.
