Born March 24, 1929, at Rockford, son of Floyd K. and Ella M. Howell. Graduated Mason City High School, 1947. Married Joyce E. Stiles, 1Q50. Children, Barbara J., Steven K. and David M. Served in Army Corps of Engineers during Korean Conflict, 17 months overseas. Self-employed farmer since 1954. Served as precinct committeeman, county chairman and 4-H leader, 10 years. Member: American Legion, S.A.R., Floyd County, National Historical Societies, Common Cause, and Lion's. Methodist. Fifth term.
