Ankeny District 61 Democrat Born July 18, 1938, in Boone, Iowa. Son of Virgil and Bessie Byerly. Wife, Pamela Mary. Graduated Boone High School, 1956. A.A. Degree from Boone Junior College, 1958. B.A. Degree in Mathematics from Simpson College, 1960. M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees from Iowa State University, 1967-1970. Worked out of Congressman Neal Smith's office. Fourth term. Five children. Employed as a Des Moines Area Community College Administrator. High school teacher and coach, 1961-1967. Selected to Community College National Internship experience in 1971. Outstanding Young Iowan Award, 1975 by Iowa Jaycees. Author and free lance writer.
