Fort Dodge District 46 Democrat Born April 22, 1941, on a farm in Webster County, son of the late Cliff and Virginia Fitzgerald. Catholic. Graduated from St. Edmonds High School, Fort Dodge 1959. Associate of Arts degree, Iowa Central Community College; B.S., civil engineering, Iowa State University 1964; Masters Degree in community development, University of Missouri; additional graduate work in political science, University of Missouri. Served in Peace Corps in Bolivia, 1964-1966. Worked for Congressman Walter Fauntroy and Congressman John Culver. Acted as campaign organizer in a number of campaigns at local level, congressional level, state level and presidential level. House majority leader. Second term.
