Leland District 8 Republican Born Nov. 17, 1946, in Leland, Iowa, son of Edward A. and Rita L. Branstad. Attended Leland Grade School and graduated from Forest City High School, 1965. Received B.A. in Political Science from University of Iowa, Iowa City, 1969. Served in U.S. Army Military Police Corps two years. Has completed three semesters at Drake University Law School. Farms in Winnebago County with father and brother. Married Christine Ann Johnson June 17, 1972. Member of St. James Catholic Church, Forest City, American Legion, and Winnebago County Farm Bureau. Active Young Republican and has served as delegate to several Iowa Republican Conventions. First term.
