New London District 83 Republican Born 1901 near Danville, Iowa, son of Charles and Parma (Oberman) Strothman. Graduated Burlington High School. Awarded scholarship to Iowa State University. Married Doris Maxwell 1929. Six children: Carol Messer, Charlotte Young, Charlene Larson, Charles M., Fredric and John. Engaged in farming, livestock feeding and breeding of registered Polled Hereford cattle with sons, Frederic and John. Served as president of school board. New London Farmers Coop., County Farm Bureau and County 4-H Club committee. Served on bank, church and livestock boards and as Republican precinct and congressional committeeman, Past President Southeast Iowa Hereford Association and Henry County Livestock Feeders. Member Farm Bureau, American and American Polled Hereford Associations, and Iowa Cattleman's Assn. Methodist. Served in 60th, 60th Extra, 61st, 62nd, 64th and 65th Assemblies.
