B.A. Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., 1961; M.A. Columbia University, New York N.Y., 1962; J.D., University of Iowa College of Law 1968. U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant 1962-65. Married Robin Ruhe. Former executive assistant to Governor Robert D. Ray, 1970-72. Member: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Order of the Coif, Presbyterian. First term in Iowa Senate.
