Fort Dodge District 46 Democrat Born on a farm in Webster County, April 22, 1941, son of the late Cliff and Virginia Fitzgerald. Catholic. Attended elementary schools in rural Webster County, Clare, Gilmore City, Sioux City, and Fort Dodge. Graduated from St. Edmonds High School Fort Dodge 1959. Received Associate of Arts degree Iowa Central Community College; B.S., Civil Engineering, Iowa State University, Ames, 1964; Masters Degree in Community Development, University of Missouri; and did further graduate work in Political Science, University of Missouri. Served in Peace Corps in Bolivia, 1964-1966. Worked for Congressman Walter Fauntroy and Congressman John Culver. Acted as campaign organizer in a number of campaigns at local level, congressional level, and presidential level.
