Thornburg District 88 Democrat Born in Poweshiek County near Deep River March 20, 1915, son of Sara Faye and Leroy Dunton. Moved to present farm home near Thornburg in Keokuk County 1920. Graduate Thornburg High School. Married Ethel Cowan of What Cheer. One daughter, Cynthia Kay. In farming and livestock operation. Formerly in hardware and implement business. Member Methodist Church, Budget and Financial Control Com., Governor's Com. Employment of Handicapped, Governor's Com. on Terrace Hill, National Com. support of public schools, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Consistory, El Kahir Shrine, Elks, Lions, Izaak Walton League, Flying Farmers, and Farm Bureau. Formerly chairman YMCA Youth in Government of Iowa, Boy Scouts District Executive Council, and member Keokuk County School Board, chairman 10 years. In 58th, 59th, 60th, 60th Extra, 61st, 62nd, 63rd, 64th, and 65th sessions of General Assembly.
