Graduated Griswold High School 1947. B.A. I.S.T.C. 1950. M.A. S.U.I. 1953. Married Dwight Emerson Conklin, M.D., June 7, 1952. Children: James Dwight, Barbara Jeanne-Anne, Robert Charles, Ralph Willard, and Beth Ann, a page 64th General Assembly, 1971 session. Member Presbyterian Church, Waterloo Woman's Club, PEO, DAR, AAUW, Medical Auxiliary, Alpha Gamma Delta, National Order of Women Legislators, National Society of State Legislators. President Cedar Valley Historical Society, board member Iowa Society Preservation of Historic Landmarks. Elected to House 1966, to Senate 1968.
