Attended Plymouth County grade school; St. Joseph High School, LeMars, 1944; Trinity College, Sioux City, 1944-47; Loras College, Dubuque, 1947-48. B.A. Married Dorothy Sell, Council Bluffs, 1952. Children: Candace, 18; Michael, 17; Mary, 16; Theresa, 15; Patrick, 13; Dianna, 10; Maureen, 8; Edward 4. Iowa Highway Patrolman, Council Bluffs, Red Oak, Glenwood (1950-54); Crocker Claims, Council Bluffs and Dubuque (1954-67). Founder, Systems of Security, private detective agency. Member of Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce; Optimists Int.; former advisor National Police Officer Association of America; past chairman Respect for Law Committee, Dubuque Optimists Club. First term in Senate. One term in House.
