Farm Security Administration, supervisor, 1938-40; high school instructor, vocational agriculture, Strawberry Point, Iowa, 1941-42, College Springs and Coin, Iowa, 1946-49. Farm, Newton, Iowa, since 1950. World War II, U. S. Marine Corps; participated in battles for Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima.
