ANDREW G. DOOLEY

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character, and public service of the late Honorable Andrew G. Dooley begs leave to submit the following memorial:

Andrew G. Dooley was born July 12, 1914 in Centerville, Iowa, son of William and Margaret Dooley.

Mr. Dooley married Harriette Larson on November 21, 1940, and to this union three daughters and a son were born, Jane, Kathryn, Barbara and William.

He attended school in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1937 with a B.S. degree in pharmacy.

Mr. Dooley was interested in track from the time he was in junior high school and won three major letters at the University of Iowa. He was captain of his high school track team in Centerville, as well as the freshman and varsity teams at the university.

He operated the Dooley Drug Company in Leeds for many years until retiring. Prior to that he was associated with the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company.

Mr. Dooley was affiliated with the Leeds Commercial Club, Masonic Triangle Lodge 643, Sioux City Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, and a charter member of the Sioux City Suburban Rotary Club, the Sioux City Pharmaceutical Association and the AFI honorary society. He also was a member of the Gamma Delta fraternity.

Mr. Dooley, a Republican, served as State Representative of Woodbury County during the Sixty-third session of the General Assembly.

He passed away on September 7, 1973, and is survived by his wife Harriette, three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Jane) Wabken of Minneapolis, Mrs. Merle (Kathryn) Hansen of Vermillion, South Dakota, Barbara a student at the University of Iowa, a son William of Sioux City, a brother and two sisters.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-fifth General Assembly of Iowa: That in the passing of the Honorable Andrew G. Dooley, the state has lost an honored citizen and a faithful and useful public servant, and the House by this resolution would express its appreciation of his service, and tender its sympathy to the members of the family.

Be It Further Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
