Ames Story County Republican Born July 14, 1893, in Spink County, S.D., son of Edwin P. and Isabelle Cunningham. B.S. South Dakota State University, 1917, and Honorary Doctor of Humanities, 1964. Married Ethel Hutchinson; two sons, Glen and Wayne, commissioned officers in U. S. Army, both killed in World War II; two daughters, Dorothy and Virginia. Served as infantry officer in World War I; member Collegiate Presbyterian Church, Ames; member Ames Rotary Club, Ames Chapter Izaak Walton League, Iowa State University Cyclone Club and honorary member Iowa State 4-H Club; member Cardinal Key and Des Moines YMCA. Ames school board member, 6 years; Ames recreation commission, 29 years; board of directors Ames Community Chest, 2 years; Ass't. Sec. YMCA Univ. of Minn. 1919-1926 and General Secretary YMCA Iowa State College 1926-1953. Presently farm owner and some rental housing units. Served in the 57th, 58th, 59th, 60th, 60th Extra Session, 62nd, and reelected 1968.
