United States delegate of national student Y.M.C.A. to World Conference of Christian Youth in Oslo, Norway, 1947. B.A. degree from State University of Iowa, June, 1950. Member of Omicron Delta Kappa, national honorary fraternity. Veteran of three years army service during Korean War. Graduate of International Graduate School, University of Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden, 1955. Foreign affairs assistant to U.S. Representative Frances P. Bolton, 1956-1961. LL.B. degree from George Washington University Law School, Washington, D.C., 1960. Attorney, member Christian Church, Wapello County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations. Third session. Served in Iowa House 1965-66 and elected to Senate Nov. 8, 1966.
