Democrat 48th Senatorial District Palo Alto, Emmet and Pocahontas Counties. Born in Palo Alto County July 14, 1929. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Kibbie. Graduated from Silver Lake High School at Ayrshire, Iowa in 1947. Married Alice Coral Austin of Arnolds Park, Iowa in 1958. Has three daughters: Luanne 9, Jacqueline Marie 8, Margaret Helen, 17 months. Two sons, Patrick John 5, and James Lynn 3. Palo Alto County farmer except for two years while serving in the army as a tank commander during the Korean War. Awarded the Bronze Star. Catholic. Member of Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., American Legion, National Farmers Organization and former Democratic County Chairman for ten years. In 1965 was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America. Served on Legislative Research Committee since July 1, 1961 and elected chairman in 1965 and vice-chairman in 1967. Served as chairman of Education Committee in 1965 and 1967 sessions. Member of Governor's Committee on Conservation of Outdoor Resources, member of State Advisory Committee on Area Schools. Served two terms in the House. Serving first term in the Senate.
