Graduated from State College of Iowa with B.A. degree in 1955, and M.A. degree in 1956. Additional work towards Ph.D. degree in political science at University of Iowa. Taught political science at Drake University Community College, 1962. Farmer. Married Barbara Ann Speicher; four children, Lee, Wendy, Robin Lynn, and Michelle Marie. Member of Farm Bureau, State and County Historical Societies, Pi Gamma Mu, Kappa Delta Pi, Masonic Lodge, and Order of Eastern Star. Member Baptist Church. Serving fourth term.
