Owns and operates a 480 acre farm in Madison township, Buchanan County with son. Member of school board 15 years and president of school board seven years. Former member of Buchanan County Rural Electric Cooperative and state extension planning commission. Member of Farm Bureau, served as county president and state and national voting delegate. Assisted in various community drives and activities. Member of N. E. Iowa Farm Business Association for 26 years. Member of the Methodist Church. Married Ruth E. Adams, Madrid, Iowa, May 31, 1930. Father of two sons: Robert, farming at home and LaVerne, deceased in 1957. Four grandchildren: Robert, Jody, Mark and Susan. Serving first term.
