Newton Democrat 29th Senatorial District Jasper County. Born near Newton, Iowa, Oct. 24, 1913, son of George R. Hill and Minnie Rees Hill. Married Ruth Ryburn, of Heyworth, Ill., Nov. 27, 1946. Five children, David, Robert, Patricia, Kathleen, and John. Member United Presbyterian church. Graduated Newton high school, 1931; B.S., Iowa State University, 1937; post-graduate work, University of Illinois, 1941. Fraternities, Alpha Zeta, Sigma Upsilon. U.S.D.A. Farm Security Administration, supervisor, 1938-1940; Strawberry Point, Iowa, high school, 1941-1942; College Springs and Coin, Iowa, high schools, instructor vocational agriculture, 1946-1949. Farm, Newton, Iowa—owner-operator 200 acre livestock farm since 1950. World War II, U. S. Marine Corps, 4th Tank Battalion; participated in battles for Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima.
