Ottumwa Wapello County Democrat Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, August 18, 1923. Educated in Ottumwa public schools and Michigan State College. Married to Edith Christine Headley of Fairfield, Iowa. Father of two children, Stephen, 12, and Ann, 8. President of the United Auto Workers, A.F.L.-C.I.O, local No. 74, and vice president Ottumwa Labor Council. Served three years with Army Air Force in the Asiatic-Pacific during World War II. Member of the Animal Relief League and board of directors of the Y.M.C.A. Twice has headed the Wapello County March of Dimes campaign and is a past member of the Ottumwa Community Chest board of directors. Member of First Lutheran church, Masonic and Eagles lodges. Member of the Iowa Development Commission. Serving second term.
