Father of two children, Stephen, 12, and Ann, 8. President of the United Auto Workers, A.F.L.-C.I.O, local No. 74, and vice president Ottumwa Labor Council. Served three years with Army Air Force in the Asiatic-Pacific during World War II. Member of the Animal Relief League and board of directors of the Y.M.C.A. Twice has headed the Wapello County March of Dimes campaign and is a past member of the Ottumwa Community Chest board of directors. Member of First Lutheran church, Masonic and Eagles lodges. Member of the Iowa Development Commission. Serving second term.
