Ottumwa Democrat 13th Senatorial District Wapello County. Born July 30, 1914, at Ottumwa, Iowa, son of Frank H. and Ruth A. Burton. Graduated from Ottumwa high school in 1933. Was deputy collector in internal revenue office in Des Moines and Davenport for four years. Member of the Kiwanis club. Member of the board of administration of First Lutheran church. Owns and operates Burton Beverage company, Ottumwa, last sixteen years. Married Pauline B. Trautwein August 23, 1936. The Burtons have a son, Larry, and a daughter, Sally Jo. Elected to Iowa Senate in 1955.
