Des Moines Polk County Democrat Born April 17, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa. Attended Dowling high school, graduating in 1935. Served seven years in the United States Navy in World War II and is a member of the Pearl Harbor Veterans' group. Graduated from Drake University, receiving an LL.B. degree. Elected justice of the peace of Bloomfield township in 1950, then resigned to serve as investigator for the federal government for two years. Married Virginia Carmody June 28, 1952. Assistant Polk county parole officer and actively engaged in the practice of law, he is a member of the American Legion, Elks club, American and Polk County Bar Associations.
