Education, rural schools, graduate of Guthrie County high school. Extension work, Iowa State College. Veteran World War I, serving with 88th Division overseas in France and Alsace-Lorraine. Married December 11, 1920 to Bessie L. Miller. Parents of seven children, Donald, Robert, Mrs. Marjorie Slaybaugh, Paul, Mrs. Mary Joyce, Mrs. Betty Parks and Patricia. Seven grandchildren. Sons in World War II and Korean conflict. Engaged in farming, 1921 to 1946, specializing in purebred Duroc hogs since 1914. Employed by Farm Bureau and associated companies, 1946 to 1951. G.I. on-the-farm instructor, several years. Chairman board of trustees, Methodist church, member of American Legion, Masons, I.O.O.F., O.E.S., Rebekahs, Lions, Izaak Walton, and Farm Bureau. Present interests, insurance, raising Durocs, and Justice of the Peace. Serving first term.
