Was deputy collector in internal revenue office in Des Moines and Davenport for four years. Member of the Kiwanis club. Member of the board of administration of First Lutheran church and finance chairman. Owns and operates Burton beverage company, Ottumwa last fourteen years. Married Pauline B. Trautwein August 23, 1936. The Burtons have a son, Larry, and a daughter, Sally Jo. Serving first term.
